     Media plays an important role in our life. Although some people do not notice it, the effect the media has on us is massive. It is a weapon with two sharp edges on the sides. You can use it for your benefit but at the same time it could be use to harm you. Even though it doesn't harm you physically, it may affect your mentality and make you see things the wrong way. For example, before I join the company I work with now, and get to know people from the U.S, I had a very negative opinion about Americans. The reason for that was the media we have in the middle east. Being in Southern Illinois makes me see the same mentality I had, but this time against the middle east.

Every once in awhile my mother calls me, and one of the things that she asks me about is how Americans treat me?. This is because of the media she is watching. When I watch T.V., I hear a lot of misconceptions about the culture, religion and people in the middle east. One of the reasons the media does that, is because they want to make everything they show interesting. When I think about these misconceptions and how they make people hate each other based on a lie, it really make me sad. Sometimes I think that there is a hand behind the scenes, that spread this poison. I want to write my research assignment about the media because it will be a good opportunity for me to know more about the reasons and may to figure out a solution for this problem.
